Individualised Sustainable Energy Plans for YOUR Business
Implementing Energy Reduction Plans to reduce energy costs. Using live metering of entire electrical systems, we will deliver accurate diagnostics and reporting, highlighting key targets and areas of savings.
Providing project management of timelines and strategies during implementation of the Energy Reduction Plans with minimal disruption and maximum energy saving results
Customised Energy Reduction Plans allow users to achieve their required levels of productivity at lower cost and with less pressure on resources.
Improve the lifespan of devices by reducing electrical noise. Harmonic distortion above a certain standardized level will become a form of pollution and lead to a range of problems that will lead to stress on electrical equipment. Stress will lead to a diminished electronic life span and damage. An audit to detect any harmonic irregularities, is a necessary primary step for improving electrical equipment lifespan.
Optimising plant equipment’s Power Factor will allow correct usage and cut down on maintenance and operating costs. A poor Power Factor indicates operations are not optimising the usage of electrical power and as a result will draw more current. A Power Factor Correction Audit can help reduce power bills.
In some industries large companies are charged based on their maximum load capacity. If a site uses more than their alotted amount, their energy bill will be charged at a higher rate. Load Shedding is necessary to control the total power consumption of a site to stay below the set peak demand limit. Auditing the site to monitor the electric demand of equipment and cutting off unnecessary electric loads once they reach close to the limit will help reduce power bills.
Integration of existing access control and time in attendance systems allows the control of air conditioners remotely. Air Conditioners can be left running for hours before and after they are required without anyone knowing, an automatic occupancy detection system to control remotely, will ensure that energy isn’t being wasted, if no-one is there to use it.
Employing a lighting control system to regulate where and when light is needed, will maximise energy savings and comply with green building and energy conservation programs. A single-user interface device is able to control any light, group of lights or all lights in a building and are commonly used in both indoor and outdoor commercial and industrial areas.
Experienced industrial electricians and engineers able to provide a 24 HR support service. Our electricians are able to implement any recommendations from the Energy Support Audit to maximise energy usage and equipment lifespan.
Why did we experience untimely tripping of overload relays of power factor correction capacitors?
The tripping of overload relays of power factor correction capacitors is due to the existence of harmonics. These harmonics might have been created by other non-linear loads on the plant, or by resonance of Power factor correction capacitors with the inductive load. Either way, these harmonics need to be filtered to avoid tripping of the relays.
What is the origin of voltage fluctuations and what can it cause?
Voltage fluctuation is a systematic variation of the voltage waveform or a series of random voltage changes of small dimensions, namely 95 to 105% of nominal at a low frequency. The usual origin of voltage fluctuation disturbances are motor start-up and spot welding. An example of a possible impact of voltage fluctuation disturbances is a light flicker.
Voltage fluctuations are the consequences of variable voltage drop along the distribution lines and across transformer windings. This voltage drop is mainly the consequence of the circulation of reactive energy absorbed by loads such as motors.
Should we worry about the influence of electronic equipment such as adjustable speed drives, uninterruptible power supplies, induction ovens, fluorescent lighting, and IT equipment?
Yes. These loads that are called non-linear loads are the major cause for low power factor and harmonics that are responsible for nuisance tripping or unexplained disturbances of control systems, voltage fluctuations and light flickers and higher electricity bills.
Why is our electrical installation victim of nuisance tripping or unexplained disturbances of control systems?
Harmonics of current and voltage existing in a polluted power supply, can cause protection devices to trip, disturbances of control systems and production disruption.
How can we reduce the electricity bill without disruption of electricity supply?
There are a few methods to manage and optimize the electricity consumption. In addition to the consumed energy there are other factors influencing the Bills. Iris Integration monitors the electrical parameters of each electrical circuit such as current, voltage, power, power factor, harmonics,… and studies your electricity bills. Benchmarking all the parameters against utility requirements, Iris Integration points out what, where and when the problem originates from. Eventually, we apply methods to optimize the energy usage, and or reschedule uncritical loads.
